Today is my wonderful husband's 39th birthday. It seems like only yesterday I was a single gal of 27 going to meet the love of my life in CA, equipted with a divorce and a 5 year old child. He was a single man of 28 when we started to live together. Here we are, 11 years later and two more kids richer. I am thinking about a song - I might mess up with the words but it seems to sum up our existance with one another - "& even tho we aint got money - I'm so in love with you honey"
On the flip side - my ex husband's birthday's in a few days and I want to wish him a happy - what to do?

Sending a friend to war

You know, I have been on the other end of this. I have been the greiving wife, crying my eyes out & oblivious to the others around me. Today I went to see a friend off who had no family to be there for her. I saw mothers crying for their children, Very pregnant wives (a lot of them this was their first child) crying for their husbands, most of whom will not get to see their first child until that child is a year old, little kids confused as to why & what is going on. I was heartbroken. I was heartbroken for those people, myself (selfish me!) and to all of those who do not understand what the experience is like.
Poor Tofu - sooooo misunderstood!

DENVER – Kelly Coffman-Lee wanted to tell the world about her love of tofu by picking the letters for her car's license plate. But her tofu fondness ran into a snafu at the Division of Motor Vehicles, which blocked her plan because they thought the combination of letters could be interpreted as profane. Her suggestion for the plate on her Suzuki: "ILVTOFU."

Department of Revenue spokesman Mark Couch said the letters could be misinterpreted.

Coffman-Lee, 38, said tofu is a staple of her family's diet because they are vegan and that the DMV misinterpreted her message.

A Simple pleasure....

Today, at work, I walked down the middle of the hall - and then to the left. He He! Why, do you ask, are you laughing at that? It's simple really. I work in a prision. Inmates have to walk on the right side ALL THE TIME! In the halls they have to shut up & walk to the right. I am not an inmate, so the simple pleasure of walking to the left or in the middle, makes me appreciate all I have. This is not to say that I don't have empathy for those who are incarcerated, just that I see how much can be given up with just ONE stupid mistake. For example: you walk out of a store with a item that was hidden (how many of us have done this?) and didn't catch it until you were loading things up in your car. This could be as cheap as a newspaper. Did you go back & pay for it / return it? No? Petty larceny. And some of our judges are mean enough to keep you in jail without bond until your court date - two+ weeks away. Sentence that you can get from it? up to 3 months in prision. (At least in good ole Virginny!)

First we did our clean-up, then Walmart & Michael's. Stopped off & bought Chinese take out (can' t beat feeding shrimp with Broccoli & House Mei fun to 3 people for $12.00 & I had leftover for breakfast!) Came home, checked email, then we blew up balloons & had a balloon fight, wore tiara's, played games, did crafts & watched Mulan! What a nice birthday! What made it even better was the fact that my DS called me before he went out with his friend & they texted me to wish me a happy birthday. My DH also called, and I received a text from his General out there! I did get the regular calls from mom & dad (singing) and my sister & nephew (singing) and both my best friends (singing). Gad zooks I am loved!

Today is church, then my DD is going to her friend's. I will be doing yard detail with Obaby. Then we had SNOW, bad enough that the daycare was closed that Mon., and I had to be at work, or lose a day of vacation - which on Tues could have been 3 days or our lives (heater went out & the repairman was actually surprized that we were alive - we had co1 in our house & our alarm did not go off! So after that ordeal - what was next? I have a broken tooth & he will be taking me to good old Doc Brown who will put me to sleep & remove the b$@#&%d! He will be going back to the sandbox on 3/12, so hopefully all will be done by then.

Why is it that after Halloween I feel like it's time to "hunker down" for the winter. Is is some remnant instinct from long ago? I feel like this is the only weekend I have to clean the entire house & weatherize it, pull out the winter clothes, and get my pantry stocked. Unfortunately I can't do all that in one weekend - especially when DH is going to "the field" for training on Sun. It was supposed to be today - thus no Halloween party for us this year!!!! But keep an eye out - When Mike comes home from Iraq we will be renewing our vows with the full wedding we never had!!!!!

(AP) ― A Pennsylvania man wanted in the strangling death of a woman whose body was found the trunk of a car is in custody after he was caught napping at a Virginia highway rest stop.

Officials say Virginia state troopers checking a report of a suspicious car found 32-year-old Julio Lastra sleeping in a stolen vehicle at an Interstate 95 rest stop south of Richmond.

Lastra is charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 25 strangulation of Marisol Rivera of Frystown. Her body was found in the trunk after Lastra crashed a car in the Harrisburg area and fled a week ago.

He's being held in the Riverside Regional Jail at Hopewell, Va., awaiting transport back to Pennsylvania.

This man is in "my" jail.
